چکیده

{ The paper presents three deterministic and one statistical procedure for a possible decomposition of superimposed signals modelled as multichannel, linear, time-invariant system outputs. A brief theoretical background is given for short-time cepstral analysis, wavelet transform, iterative parametric search, and higher-order statistics approach. The methods are evaluated according to the results obtained on a synthetic electromyogram (EMG). Their performances are compared and enlightened from the standpoint of an application to the real EMG decomposition.

A combined Wavelet- Artificial Neural Network model and its application to the prediction of groundwater level fluctuations

Accurate groundwater level modeling and forecasting contribute to civil projects, land use, citys planning and water resources management. Combined Wavelet-Artificial Neural Network (WANN) model has been widely used in recent years to forecast hydrological and hydrogeological phenomena. This study investigates the sensitivity of the pre-processing to the wavelet type and decomposition level in ...

Feature Extraction of Visual Evoked Potentials Using Wavelet Transform and Singular Value Decomposition

Introduction: Brain visual evoked potential (VEP) signals are commonly known to be accompanied by high levels of background noise typically from the spontaneous background brain activity of electroencephalography (EEG) signals. Material and Methods: A model based on dyadic filter bank, discrete wavelet transform (DWT), and singular value decomposition (SVD) was developed to analyze the raw data...

Combination of Empirical Mode Decomposition Components of HRV Signals for Discriminating Emotional States

Introduction Automatic human emotion recognition is one of the most interesting topics in the field of affective computing. However, development of a reliable approach with a reasonable recognition rate is a challenging task. The main objective of the present study was to propose a robust method for discrimination of emotional responses thorough examination of heart rate variability (HRV). In t...

Computer-Assisted Decomposition of the Electromyograms

The paper analyses the scope of multimodal parametric search (MPS) as the means for the decomposition of the electromyograms (EMGs). The approach is based on a predeened set of signal sources that are described by some parameters. These signal sources are searched for in a superimposed signal by calculation of the Euclidian distance and looking for its minimum. The signal sources are applied su...

Classification of EEG Signals for Discrimination of Two Imagined Words

In this study, a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) in Silent-Talk application was implemented. The goal was an electroencephalograph (EEG) classifier for three different classes including two imagined words (Man and Red) and the silence. During the experiment, subjects were requested to silently repeat one of the two words or do nothing in a pre-selected random order. EEG signals were recorded by ...
